Fifteen Past Midnight
About the ArtistHello, I’m Yanika Biller.
My paintings explore quiet emotional moments that unfold within familiar American spaces. Using oil paint, I create semi-realistic narrative scenes often set during late evening or midnight hours.
My work focuses on the subtle tension between presence and absence, connection and isolation, comfort and uncertainty. By combining staged photographic references with imaginative adjustments, I construct scenes that feel both believable and slightly dreamlike, allowing lighting and color to carry emotional weight beyond literal realism.
Living and working in Los Angeles and balancing my roles as an artist and mother of two has deeply influenced my perspective on stillness and time. Many of my works reflect the quiet hours when the world slows down, offering space for contemplation and observation. Through these paintings, I aim to capture moments that feel both deeply personal and universally recognizable.
